Welcome

VISION ÉVANGÉLINE – The Rural Municipalities of Abram-Village and Wellington, working with the Conseil scholaire-communautaire Evangeline, are conducting a Municipal Growth Management  study to examine the creation of a regional municipal unit which could also include the surrounding unincorporated communities.  Brighter Community Planning & Consulting will be working with the local working committee to complete this study between January and March of this year.

The Growth Management Study is just beginning.  A very important part of this study is consulting with local residents and businesses, and we are beginning our consultation with this brief survey.  We hope you will take a few minutes to respond to the questions, to help us better understand your community and its future local government needs.

In February there will be an Open House and  in March a workshop where more details  of this study will be presented and individuals will have a chance to provide more comment.  Information on these sessions will be available shortly.  This survey will help us prepare for these meetings.

Wellington is located along Route 124, just off Route 2, twenty kilometres west of Summerside. The Confederation Bridge in Borden-Carleton. It is a cozy neighbourhood of approximately 400 residents, serviced with a fire department and sewer utility. The Ellis River flows through the core of the community, which also has a dam, fish ladder, pond, and recreational park allowing residents and visitors to enjoy the natural outdoors.

The Community of Wellington serves the surrounding area as a regional hub for commerce and services. Several businesses and establishments are therefore located in the Community, including the Evangeline-Central Credit Union, Wellington Co-op, The Cooperators, Murphy’s Pharmacy, Char’s Restaurant, Wellington Esso and Service Station, Wellington Boys & Girls Club, Seniors Home, Royal Canadian Legion, Canada Post, and Access PEI to name a few. It is also a bilingual community, being located in the center of the Evangeline area.
